1. Exploring the Acropolis

The Acropolis of Lindos, which is majestically located on a rocky outcrop, is a powerful testimony to the town’s multicolored history and architectural talent.

Reconstruct yourself into the land of ancient times as you walk by the fourth century before Christ temple disassembles bridges of fortresses. Gaze upon Doric columns of the Temple of Athena Lindia and witness the view of the blueness of the Aegean Sea before your eyes.

This one is best experienced in the early hours of the day so that one would avoid massive crowds and strong sunbeams. It is advisable to wear close-fitting shoes and carry a water bottle to keep up with the tour.

There will be Propylaea, the overarching entrance to the structure, and from the Temple of Athena Lindia, a fantastic viewpoint cannot be missed. Also, Inscribable old inscriptions and carvings can be discovered across the Acropolis, revealing tales of deceptions dealt to Lindos.

The villages you will pass through are Lindos, as you go through its narrow, cute streets and feel as if you were moving back into time. The place kept some breathtaking examples of traditional Greek architecture in addition to cute modern additions. The village also has pretty windy alleys with whitewashed houses with bougainvillea.

4. Donkey Ride to the Acropolis

If you want a truly unique experience, consider heading to the Acropolis the same way as countless ancient travelers did—by riding a loyal donkey! Riding along the old, winding paths that pilgrims of centuries past once traversed on the way to the Acropolis is a true step back in time.

It is a novel method to take in the wealth of history of Lindos while appreciating a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Donkey rides have long been a part of Lindos, originating from the ancient times when they were a primary source of transport.

However, today’s method of travel to the Acropolis is a novel, enjoyable, and respectful tribute to this historic practice. If you opt for this option, I recommend wearing comfortable attire and hanging on tight. Afterward, tap your faithful steed on the back and thank him with a hearty ‘efharisto’ when it’s done.
